Plant a Vision of Total Well Being

Wildflower Bodywork is a collection of healing and preventative practices as well as manual physical therapies. These include massage, breath work, stretching, yoga, guided meditation and mindful physical training. The intention is to help heal, strengthen and connect the body and mind while considering an individual's whole being. Getting back in touch with and sustaining a natural, healthy state is our goal.
 

 

 

What is Bodywork for Holistic Healing and Wellness?

​

Bodywork is defined as therapies and techniques in complementary medicine which involve manipulating the body through touch or non touch techniques. Some examples of this are massage, acupressure, stretching, yoga, breathing techniques and more. Bodywork is a broader term for techniques that aim to improve the posture and strengthen and heal while considering the body and mind as a single integrated unit.

Holistic wellness is defined as taking a whole being approach to wellness. Supporting our physical bodies as well as attending to our nutritional, mental, emotional and spiritual states. Each of these is interconnected to create our whole selves and can affect each other for better or worse. By using our breath as the foundation to move through bodywork and healing we can listen to where the body needs our focus. Breathing is a powerful force within that guides us back toward a state of holistic health and wellness. Taking this holistic approach is a way of empowering ourselves to help prevent disease, injury, depression, and a number of other conditions which can enter us into the medical system keeping us from growing into our true strength and experiencing our healthiest lives.

Healing can simply be defined as taking time out to check in, alleviating compounded daily stress. It can also be as in depth as following regular healing practices such as massage and gentle stretching and mindful strength training to return back to wellness after an injury or illness. Breathing has a positive and healing effect on our whole state of wellness. 

​

Wellness is defined as the state of being in good health, especially as an actively pursued goal. It is an ongoing pursuit to maintain wellness and that pursuit works in a preventative capacity to sustain that health.

​

I use the cleanest, nature derived products on the body to facilitate healing while working with you. Ingredients found in plants such as Arnica, a wild daisy type flower that helps relieve pain and bruising. Eucalyptus, rose, thyme and rosemary help with headaches and open up the sinus' as well as aid in reducing inflammation. Peppermint is a great cooling oil that I like to use in summertime as a refreshing hydrosol.  Using plants for their aromatherapy benefits such as lavender for relaxation and sleep improvement, lemon and orange to cleanse and energize and rosemary to stimulate that mental clarity and focus. Toxic chemicals we ingest or apply topically require our bodies to distinguish the beneficial from the harmful using up our vital healing energy to expel those toxins. Imagine how much more functional we could be and the energy saved by sparing ourselves that extra work.

 

I believe in using locally sourced ingredients as much as possible and supporting organic farming and harvesting practices that are ethically sound while considering the effects on the earth for generations to come. As in the Great Law of the Iroquois First Nation, each action is considered with the next 7 generations in mind, calculated as a lifespan of 75 years. That's 525 years of forethought considered with each decision. We on this planet have strayed away from nature and knowing our bodies and trusting that knowledge and intuition to feel what we require to be healthy. Getting back in touch with and sustaining our natural, healthy state is the goal at Wildflower Bodywork. Using natures healing properties and empowering ourselves with the mindfulness to connect back to our whole being and attain sustainable wellness. Setting that example of health for generations to come.

Yoga and mat pilates based physical training designed to strengthen while lengthening the body. Small weights are added slowly as ability increases.

HEAYT - helping elite athletes w/yoga training

These yoga styled classes are paced for athletes to hold their attention while teaching them to use their breath more efficiently during physical activity. Improving balance, flexibility and strength will lengthen an athletes career and help prevent injury or burnout. An awareness of ones body through breath work and mindful movement will empower young athletes to safely push further. 

Guided stretch classes help athletes learn a safe and effective way to stretch the muscles that are most used in their sport. This can help prevent the body having to compensate for overworked, tired and tight muscles which results in imbalances and possible future injury.

Guided stretching or HEAYT classes are great additions to a post practice routine. A quick physical burnout session can be added before a stretch class to warm the body if needed.

These special gatherings help you re-connect and soak in the energy of nature. We are after all nature and part of this energetic circle of life.  Using the healing power of natures gifts such as vitamin D, oxygen and negative ions to heal. These negative ions are abundant in nature, especially around crashing waves, waterfalls, mountains and forests. They help revitalize cell metabolism, neutralize free radicals, help improve the function of the respiratory tract, increase serotonin release reducing stress levels and depression. Studies have shown that simply sitting in nature improves ones mood,  giving some clarity for the mind and improving memory function by oxygenating the body with fresh air.  Let's not forget the benefit of getting down and dirty while digging in the earth which releases microbes found in the soil. Breathing in these microbes can stimulate serotonin and dopamine production while reducing cortisol levels making you feel lighter and happier.

These retreats are totally customizable in half day, full day or full weekend options and can be done in a backyard or at a chosen getaway location. Great ways to celebrate new beginnings such as bridal and baby showers, birthdays or simply taking time away from the rush of the daily routine. My Roots

As a professionally trained dancer I understand the body and it's ability to move freely, feeling when movement flows and can grow but also knowing when there's a blockage of energy inhibiting that flow. This is paramount to helping others start their own growth toward healing and strengthening. I have an understanding of the amount of mental and physical strength that is required to reach an elite level of training and performance. The years I spent training and performing were  times of learning to accept the need for rest and repair as well as discovering how to use my mental strength and mindfulness to go beyond and safely breathe strength into my tired physical body. I had a virtually injury free career and the small ailments incurred healed quickly due to healthy eating and a mindfulness and acceptance to honor the healing process as well as a belief in my capacity to heal. From elite athletes and performers to our everyday 9-5ers, we can all harness the power of our breath and whole selves to achieve our desired health and wellness goals.

 

Upon completing my dance formation with Concordia University's contemporary dance program and then massage training at Kine-Concept in Montreal, Canada I moved to California to join a contemporary ballet company here in Los Angeles. The ocean however quickly stole my heart and I surfed the waves for years leading me to LMU and their beautiful Vinyasa Krama Yoga training with Srivatsa Ramaswami. What a blessing!

 

Having worked at E.Lee Physical Therapy in Westlake Village, The One Spa at Shutters on the Beach Hotel, Santa Monica for 15 years and most recently The Wellness Ranch in Malibu I've helped several high level and celebrity guests as well as professional athletes and conduct myself with discretion, professionalism and compassion. As a healer I will listen to your needs and intuitively allow your body to guide me to areas of blockage so that we can open them to release stagnation. As a yoga and stretching guide I will work with you to find your comfortable flow of movement and energy through modifications and breathing deeply. Using mindful movement training we work to enhance your mental and physical ability, teaching them to work symbiotically so that you can safely achieve your maximum physical output. I'm passionate about having those 'lightbulb' moments with people where they have a physical breakthrough in their understanding of their body. My teaching style is light yet thorough and accessible to all levels. I use detailed explanations so each movements meaning and purpose is relayed allowing you to become more aware and mindful in your practice. I'll give modifications and slight adjustment suggestions to allow for the different nuances of each movement to come through. 

Always believing in our strength and ability to heal and grow.
